Why We Chose Lab-Grown

Why Ring Premier works only in lab-grown diamonds, and what that lets us offer.

Why We Chose Lab-Grown

Ring Premier works only in lab-grown diamonds. It is not a compromise we make on price; it is the material we believe fine jewelry should be made from today.

The same diamond

A lab-grown diamond is a diamond: the same carbon, the same crystal structure, the same hardness, fire and brilliance as a stone taken from the ground. It is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, and it will pass a diamond tester because it is one. A gemologist cannot separate the two without specialist equipment.

Grown, not mined

A mined diamond passes through open-pit or underground extraction, moving tons of earth for a single carat, and through a supply chain that crosses many borders. A lab-grown diamond forms in a chamber over a matter of weeks, under the same heat and pressure that make diamonds in the earth, from a supplier we know by name. We can tell you where every stone came from, because we chose it there.

What it allows us to do

Because the cost of the material is lower and the supply is steady, we can set diamonds at a standard that would be difficult to hold with mined stones: colorless grades of D to F, and VVS clarity and better, in every piece. Larger, cleaner diamonds, chosen for how they take light rather than for how rare the rough was.

Our own footprint

Our packaging is recyclable and plastic-free. We make each piece to order, so nothing is produced that has not been asked for. And we service every piece we sell for as long as it is worn, so that it need never be replaced.

Choosing lab-grown is choosing the diamond, without the mine. If you have questions about how our diamonds are grown or graded, our gemologists are glad to talk them through.
